The foundation of the high precise Vehicle Body
"Body Framing" is the process of assembling the Underbody, Bodyside and Roof Bow to build a complete Body-in-White frame structure with precisely locating and high quality joining, which must meet the geometry accuracy and structural rigidity. This step likes crafting an artwork and is the foundation of vehicle high performances.
Framing is the ultimate guaranty of dimensional accuracy. The accumulated tolerance from sub-assemblies will be absorbed and eliminated in this station. Even if minus deviations will result in difficulty of assembling subsequent components, bad sealing and finally impact safety. Therefore, Framing is always at the crucial path of geometry quality.
The Framing system is always with extreme complexity. To reach the requirements of high production volume and GEO spots welding, there are 10-16 robots working synchronously, this requires extreme complex control logic and robot path planning.
The complexity of Framing for high flexibility will be further promoted due to involving fixture storage, model switch and conveyor system. Any unstable issue can impact the production quality. Consequently, the Framing system must possess exceptional robustness.
Due to its decisive role in the production line, the Framing station often becomes the bottleneck in the body shop, directly affecting production volume. Every vehicle OEM will pay special attention to Framing system.

01 AE BIW Framing Solutions
With different technologies of fixture storage and driving unit, AE Corp. has developed five Framing systems—AE Flex Gate, AE Open Gate, AE TR Gate, AE TRUN Gate, and AE GR Gate—to precisely adapt to diverse customer needs and application scenarios. All the five Framing systems are equipped with GEO BOX framework to ensure the locating accuracy and repeatability.

Based on the excellent hardware architecture, AE Framing systems are continuously improving with digital technologies:

By these technologies, digital twin system is created which aims to achieve seamless alignment between virtual planning and physical production, significantly shortening project leading time and reducing implementation risks.
